GODA Completes Strategic Road and Market Projects in Ohafia, Set for Commissioning as Gov. Otti’s Infrastructure Drive Gains Momentum
The Abia State Government has recorded another major milestone in its ongoing infrastructure and economic revitalization agenda, as the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) successfully completes a series of impactful projects across Ohafia and its environs, all now awaiting official commissioning by Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti.
This development underscores the administration’s deliberate commitment to balanced regional development, with a strong focus on improving road connectivity and boosting grassroots commerce in Abia North.
The Abia State Commissioner for Information, Prince Kanu, made this known on Monday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Dr. Alex Otti.
Providing details of the completed projects, the Commissioner highlighted the strategic importance of each intervention in enhancing mobility, stimulating local economies, and improving the quality of life for residents.
“These include the 2.4-kilometre Amaumara–Ugbe Road in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, the 1.2-kilometres Okagwe–Ukwebi Road, the 1.2-kilometres Amaekpu Ring Road in Ohafia, as well as the Afiankwo Isiama Daily Market in Ohafia Local Government Area,“ Prince Kanu said.
Prince Kanu further explained that beyond improving transportation networks, the projects are designed to unlock economic potential within the benefiting communities. He particularly emphasized the significance of the Afiankwo Isiama Daily Market, describing it as a catalyst for increased commercial activity in Ohafia.
According to him, the market project, upon completion, is expected to serve as a major hub for local trade, providing traders with a conducive environment for business while attracting buyers from neighboring communities.
He noted that the market project, when completed, will significantly enhance commercial activities in the area and further drive the state’s economic transformation agenda.
The completion of these projects by GODA adds to the growing list of infrastructural achievements under Governor Otti’s administration, reinforcing the government’s resolve to deliver tangible development across all parts of the state.
