GOVERNOR OTTI SET TO COMMISSION ULTRA-MODERN SMART SCHOOL IN ISIALA NGWA NORTH
The Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, commission the newly transformed Community Primary School, Umuomaikwu Smart School in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, marking another milestone in Abia State’s sweeping education reform.
The commissioning will officially unveil one of the flagship projects under the Abia State Smart School Initiative, a programme designed to redefine public basic education through technology-driven learning and modern infrastructure.
Delivered by the Abia State Government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the project has transformed what was once a conventional public primary school into a state-of-the-art digital learning centre equipped to prepare pupils for the demands of the 21st century.
According to the press release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the Smart School features 10 fully equipped classrooms fitted with interactive smart boards, digital learning devices, and a robust Learning Management System (LMS). It also boasts a modern ICT laboratory, a multi-purpose hall, well-appointed administrative offices, and a fully equipped sick bay to cater to the academic and welfare needs of learners.
In a significant boost to digital education, every pupil from Primary 1—6 will receive a personal learning tablet, ensuring that each child has access to the digital tools needed for effective teaching and learning both inside and outside the classroom.
The facility also reflects Governor Otti’s commitment to inclusive education. It has been purposefully designed with accessibility features such as ramps and specially constructed toilet facilities for pupils living with disabilities, creating a safe, welcoming, and barrier-free learning environment for every child.
The commissioning of the Umuomaikwu Smart School further reinforces the Otti administration’s resolve to provide quality, technology-enabled education while expanding access to world-class learning facilities across Abia State.
Education stakeholders, community leaders, residents, and members of the public are expected to attend the event, which is widely seen as another major step in the state’s drive to build a future-ready education system and position Abia as a leader in educational innovation in Nigeria.
