Poco Lee Release Rumour Deepens as UK Prosecutors Confirm Sexual Offence Case Remains Active
Reports surrounding the alleged release of Nigerian dancer and entertainer, Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, from custody in the United Kingdom have taken a fresh turn following conflicting information about the status of the sexual offence case against him.
Social media influencer Peller had earlier claimed during a livestream that Poco Lee had been released after the woman who allegedly took the dancer to court withdrew her case.
Peller made the claim while responding to questions from viewers who wanted to know whether Poco Lee had regained his freedom.
“Yes o guys, Poco Lee is out. They talk say that girl that sue Poco Lee say the girl e run away from the case, say e leave the case. God go bless the girl, na God go bless am, is a good person,” Peller said.
He further alleged that the complainant’s decision to withdraw the case resulted in the dancer’s release from custody.
“The girl that make Poco Lee go to prison, the girl comot the case, UK lawyer con leave Poco Lee,” he added.
The claim quickly generated attention online, coming amid widespread speculation over the dancer’s legal status in the United Kingdom.
However, fresh clarification from the Crown Prosecution Service indicates that the criminal proceedings against Poco Lee remain active, with a major pre-trial hearing still scheduled to take place in London.
In response to an inquiry on Saturday, September 12, 2026, the CPS Press Office confirmed that the case involving Odinaka was still live and that he remained scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026.
The CPS said, “This case is still live, and Odinaka is still set to appear for a PTPH at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 15 September 2026.”
PTPH, which stands for Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing, is a pre-trial proceeding where matters concerning the defendant’s plea, trial preparation and other issues relating to the conduct of the case are considered.
The latest confirmation from prosecutors therefore provides an important distinction between the status of the criminal proceedings and the unverified reports concerning Poco Lee’s custody status.
While the CPS confirmed that the case remains active and that Odinaka is expected in court on September 15, it did not state whether he had been released on bail or remained in custody on remand.
Clarification had also been sought from Snaresbrook Crown Court regarding the dancer’s current custody or bail status, with a response still awaited.
The development followed reports circulating across social media platforms claiming that Poco Lee had been released from a UK prison after the complainant allegedly withdrew from the proceedings or that the matter had been settled outside court.
Those claims had not been independently confirmed by the UK court or prosecution authorities as of the time of the report.
Odinaka is facing five sexual offence charges in the United Kingdom, comprising attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.
The case was previously listed before Snaresbrook Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on September 15.
The court has also imposed a reporting restriction designed to protect the anonymity of the complainant under Section 1 of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992.
The legal proceedings followed Poco Lee’s visit to the United Kingdom in August, where he reportedly attended Davido and Friends, an event held at the Crystal Palace Bowl in London on August 14.
The allegations against the entertainer are serious, but the case remains before the court and no conviction has been recorded against him.
Consequently, claims that the complainant has withdrawn the case, that the matter has been abandoned or that Poco Lee’s alleged release was directly caused by the withdrawal remain unverified pending official clarification from the relevant UK authorities.
For now, the clearest official position is that the case remains active and that Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, even as questions surrounding his present custody or bail status continue to generate speculation online.
