Toyin Abraham Denies Lagos APC Campaign Council Membership, Says She Is Staying Out of Politics
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has publicly distanced herself from the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that she is not a member of any campaign council.
Abraham’s clarification followed the publication of the Lagos APC campaign council list on Thursday, September 17, 2026, in which her name appeared among 33 personalities listed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
The development quickly attracted public attention, given Abraham’s prominence in Nigeria’s entertainment industry and the growing involvement of celebrities in political campaigns and public affairs.
However, the actress moved swiftly to clarify her position, using her Instagram Story to reject the reported association and reiterate her decision to remain outside partisan politics.
In her statement, Abraham said:
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she said.
The actress’s statement makes clear that, despite her name appearing on the published campaign structure, she does not consider herself a member of the council and does not wish to be associated with the campaign committee.
Her response also reinforces a position she said she had recently communicated publicly that she intends to stay away from politics.
The clarification comes as political parties and campaign structures begin taking shape ahead of the 2027 elections, with influential figures from the entertainment, business, professional and creative sectors increasingly featuring in political mobilisation efforts.
For Abraham, however, the latest development has prompted her to publicly draw a line between her career in Nollywood and political campaign activities, asking members of the public to disregard her reported inclusion in the APC campaign structure.
