Abia State Assembly Moves to Address Boundary Dispute, Alleged Land Grabbing in Umuahia South as Committee Report Advances for Further Legislative Scrutiny

The Abia State House of Assembly has taken a significant step towards addressing a contentious land dispute in Umuahia South Local Government Area following the presentation of a committee report on a petition concerning alleged boundary extension, unlawful land grabbing, and the controversial re-allocation of 37 plots of land belonging to the late Chief Iroabuchi Christian Uwabunkeonye.
The matter came up during plenary under the Order of the Day, where the House received the report of its Committee on Security and Boundary Matters after a detailed review of the petition submitted by concerned parties.
Presenting the report before the House, the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Augustine Okezie, outlined the findings of the committee regarding the dispute surrounding the parcel of land located at Okwuba in Umuozuala Nsukwe Ubakala, within Umuahia South Local Government Area.
The petition had raised serious concerns over what was described as the extension of boundary lines and the alleged unlawful takeover and reallocation of 37 plots of land originally belonging to the late Chief Uwabunkeonye.
