Abia Lawmakers Commend Governor Alex Otti for Flagging Off Construction of Alayi–Item–Nkporo Road
During Tuesday’s plenary at the Abia State House of Assembly, lawmakers took turns to express gratitude to Governor Alex Chioma Otti for his administration’s commitment to infrastructural renewal across the state, particularly in Bende and Ohafia Local Government Areas.
Rising under Personal Explanations, the Honourable Member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon. Nnamdi Ibekwe, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the Governor for the commencement of the long-awaited construction of the Alayi–Item–Nkporo Road, a major inter-community route that had suffered years of neglect and severe dilapidation under previous administrations.
He described the project as a significant relief for commuters and residents who had endured decades of hardship due to the poor state of the road, stressing that the ongoing construction marks a new era of hope and connectivity for the people of Ohafia and neighboring communities.
Also speaking under Personal Explanation, the Member representing Bende South State Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi, lauded Governor Otti for his swift intervention on the Alayi–Item Road in Bende, which is now witnessing visible progress.
The lawmaker highlighted that the rehabilitation of the road would not only boost economic activities and ease transportation but also enhance trade and social interaction between communities in Bende, Item, and Nkporo.
Both legislators commended the Governor’s proactive approach to infrastructure development, noting that his actions have restored public confidence and reaffirmed his administration’s determination to reconnect rural communities and transform Abia’s road network for sustainable growth.
