Abia Records Zero Cases of Major Public Health Diseases
Abia State has recorded no cases of major diseases of public health importance during the period under review, marking a significant development in the state’s ongoing efforts to protect residents and strengthen disease surveillance.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed that the state did not record any cases of Ebola, Lassa fever, COVID-19, diphtheria, cholera, mpox or yellow fever within the period.
Kanu made the disclosure on Monday, August 24, 2026, while briefing journalists at the Government House, Umuahia, on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
