Abia State Completes Tender Process for Pocket Estate Project, Set to Unveil Successful Contractors
The Abia State Government has recorded another milestone in its housing development programme with the completion of the tendering process for the proposed Pocket Estate Layout, paving the way for the commencement of the much-anticipated project.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, announced the development on Monday, July 20, 2026, while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR.
Prince Kanu disclosed that the provisional list of successful contractors for the Pocket Estate Layout project would be made public on Tuesday, indicating that all necessary processes had been concluded and the project was now ready to commence.
According to him, the proposed Pocket Estate Layout represents another strategic intervention by the state government to expand access to quality housing and accelerate urban development across Abia State.
The Commissioner also provided updates on the ongoing Green City Site and Services Estate located in Obehie, Ukwa East Local Government Area, noting that construction work at the estate is advancing steadily.
“The perimeter fencing has been completed and the roads in the estate have been constructed. The blocks as well have been facilitated,” Prince Kanu said, giving details of the progress recorded so far.
The latest update underscores the state’s continued commitment to delivering modern housing infrastructure and creating well-planned residential communities that will support sustainable development and improve the living standards of Abia residents.
