BREAKING NEWS: ABIA GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES POSTPONEMENT OF FLAG-OFF CEREMONY FOR A-LINE PHASE II REMODELING AT ARIARIA INTERNATIONAL MARKET, ABA

The Abia State Government has announced the postponement of the official flag-off ceremony for the remodeling and redevelopment of the A-Line Phase II section of the Ariaria International Market, Aba, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

In a statement signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, the government explained that the decision was taken to allow for the completion of some essential preparatory processes required to guarantee the smooth and successful execution of the project.

According to the release, the postponement underscores the administration’s commitment to excellence and proper planning in delivering Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s vision for a modern, safe, and globally competitive commercial environment in Aba.

“The Ariaria redevelopment remains a top priority of the present administration, as it forms a vital part of Governor Otti’s agenda to rebuild Aba into a modern commercial hub that meets international standards of business, safety, and infrastructure,” the statement read.

While expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by the postponement, the government assured traders, investors, and all stakeholders that a new date for the flag-off ceremony will be announced soon.

The statement further emphasized that the Otti administration remains steadfast in its drive to deliver sustainable infrastructure, accountability, and people-oriented governance in line with its vision of building a New Abia.
