FG Debunks Viral Message Claiming Nationwide School Closure from November 24
The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed as false a message currently circulating across social media platforms claiming that all schools nationwide have been directed to close from November 24, 2025.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the Ministry described the viral message as “false, misleading,” and not originating from the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognised security agency.
The Ministry urged Nigerians to disregard the rumour and desist from circulating the unverified notice, warning that such misinformation could cause unnecessary panic across the country.
According to the statement, members of the public are strongly advised to rely only on verified information disseminated through official government and security channels, including:
1. The Federal Government
2. The Federal Ministry of Education
3. State Governments and State Ministries of Education
4. Recognised security agencies
The Ministry emphasised that any advisory or directive not issued through these official platforms should be ignored.
It further encouraged Nigerians to always verify the authenticity of information before sharing it, stressing that responsible information management is crucial in curbing the spread of falsehoods.
The statement was signed by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.
