OMOBA SET TO RECONNECT TO NATIONAL GRID AS HON. ROWLAND CHIWENDU INTERVENES
The ancient town of Omoba and several adjoining communities in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area are on the verge of having their long-awaited electricity supply restored, following a fresh intervention by the member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Rowland Dennis Chinwendu (Ceaser).
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Omoba Electricity Consumer’s Forum, Prince Eugene Uzo Nwaoha, PhD, the Forum congratulated the lawmaker for responding to the community’s persistent pleas for the restoration of power, which has affected numerous households and businesses across the area for years.
According to Dr. Nwaoha, Hon. Chinwendu disclosed that engineers from Geometric Power Aba have been on-site in Omoba for the past week, working on the high-tension line that links the community to the Governor’s power line through Umuene Junction. He noted that the progress follows the lawmaker’s direct engagement with Governor Alex Otti through the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Hon. Ikechukwu Monday, who also hails from Isiala Ngwa South.
“We are most grateful that we are likely going to have back our light, at least before Christmas. This is evidence of effective representation of your people,” the statement read.
The Forum announced that its members will be physically present in Omoba from Monday, November 24, 2025, to support Geometric Power workers in the ongoing reconnection efforts. Residents and electricity committee members in all affected communities have also been urged to begin clearing electricity routes to ensure smooth and timely work.
Communities benefiting from this reconnection include Ikeahaba, Umuezu 1 & 2, Isieketa, Okpuhie, Ovorji, Umuabali, Umuagu, Umuakpor, Umueleghele, Umuene, Umugba, Umuapu, Umuire 1 & 2, Umuokegwu, Umuokoroukwu, Okpuala, and others.
Dr. Nwaoha expressed optimism that the reconnection will be achieved within the shortest possible time, thanking Hon. Chinwendu for championing the cause of his c
onstituents.
