The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has issued a stern warning to individuals allegedly boasting about plans to manipulate the 2027 Governorship Election, advising them to “write their wills and hand them over to their families” before embarking on such a perilous venture.

Governor Otti made this declaration on Thursday during the October edition of his Monthly Media Parley, tagged “Governor Alex Otti Speaks,” held in Umuahia, the state capital.

According to the Governor, his remarks were not meant as a threat but as a sober word of caution, explaining that recent intelligence reports have revealed that some displaced politicians are already bragging about their ability to “write results” in the forthcoming elections.

He emphasized that such reckless declarations would not be tolerated under his watch, warning that anyone attempting to undermine the will of Abia voters in 2027 would face dire consequences.

“My statement is not a threat but a word of caution. Intelligence reports suggest that some displaced politicians are already boasting how they will manipulate the 2027 elections,” Governor Otti clarified.

In a direct response to a recent remark attributed to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, who reportedly claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would “take over Abia in 2027,” Governor Otti dismissed such boasts, stressing that power ultimately belongs to God.

“I do not have the anointing to speak about what will happen in 2027 in 2025. 

“So, if someone can stand up and say this is what will happen in 2027, who am I to question him? But I know that power belongs to God and He gives it to whom He wants. We are all Christians and advised not to speak when the Lord has not spoken,” Otti stated.

The Governor further advised the Deputy Speaker to focus on his legislative duties in the National Assembly rather than prematurely launching a political campaign in Abia State.

“I think he should focus on the jobs he has been given. I heard he wants to run for governorship in 2027 that’s fine and nobody should stop him, but we should respect the law. 

“When you gather people and you are telling them that you are going to take over in 2027, you are campaigning,” Gov. Otti cautioned.

Governor Otti, however, clarified that he bears no personal grudge against Benjamin Kalu, noting that their relationship predated politics.

“My relationship with the Deputy Speaker didn’t start with politics. You will find out that this is the second time he has come out publicly to berate my administration and myself, and I think I want to forgive him. 

“Do I feel threatened? Absolutely no. I feel he was terrified with the kind of organic show of love by Aba and Umuahia people,” Otti said.

The Governor went further to describe Kalu’s public utterances as a reflection of “hubris” and “Information Deficiency Syndrome.”

“I think he has a few challenges which I will describe as hubris and closely as Information Deficiency Syndrome. Sometimes when I see him describe himself as number 6, according to the Protocol Act of 2000, the number 6 man should be the Deputy Speaker, except if it has changed, I do not know,” Gov. Otti added with a touch of sarcasm.

Governor Otti’s remarks have since generated widespread reactions across Abia State, with many citizens commending his firm stance on electoral integrity and his calm yet assertive response to political provocations.

As the 2027 elections gradually approach, Otti’s message appears to echo a clear warning to political actors that the era of electoral manipulation and result-writing in Abia is over.
