Entrepreneur Calls for Voluntary Public Fundraising to Support Gov. Alex Otti’s Visionary Projects in Abia State

…says “Abians Ready to Raise ₦200 Billion for Development Projects,” for Citizen-Funded Support to Advance Gov. Alex Otti’s Vision for a Connected, Prosperous Abia State

An Abia-born entrepreneur, Mr. Emenike Emmanuel Chidiebube, has made a passionate appeal to Abians and lovers of Abia State to rally behind Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, through voluntary public fundraising initiatives aimed at transforming the state’s infrastructure and economy.

In a post that has since gained significant traction online, Mr. Emenike urged those close to the Governor including his Special Senior Assistants (SSAs) and Commissioners to ensure that the message reaches him, stressing that Abians are “burning to support” the Governor beyond mere commendations for his developmental strides.

“Abians and lovers of Abia State are burning to support him more. We’ve been consistently thinking of the best ways to support him beyond recognizing his good deeds,” he wrote.

The entrepreneur, who expressed confidence in Governor Otti’s integrity and proven capacity to attract funding, described him as a “powerhouse when it comes to raising funds,” referencing the Governor’s earlier comment to journalist Oseni Rufai that “raising money is his trade secret.”

While acknowledging the Governor’s financial prowess, Emenike noted that many Abians and friends of the state are eager to personally contribute towards major developmental projects.

“We may not be able to give ₦1 billion now, but many Abians and lovers of Abia State will be willing to donate ₦5,000, ₦10,000, ₦30,000, ₦50,000, ₦100,000, ₦500,000, ₦1 million, ₦10 million, ₦100 million, and even ₦25 billion (like Mr. Tony Elumelu did for Lagos State),” he added.

According to him, such collective fundraising efforts could finance a light rail system that connects all parts of Abia State and open up new access roads linking communities to farmlands and business centers, thereby transforming the state into an integrated economic hub.

“Give Abians and lovers of Abia State six months, and they will raise more than ₦200 billion to start this project.

“They are not in doubt of your capacity to deliver on the project. They know their money is safe in your hands,” he asserted.

Mr. Emenike painted a vivid picture of a modern, connected Abia where intra-state travel would become seamless:

“Someone living in Abiriba can come to work in Umuahia every day. In less than 30 minutes, they will be in their office. Someone in Ukwa East can go to work in Uturu in less than 45 minutes. If you are in Item and you have a flight to catch in Nsulu, you can leave your house by 8am and in less than 30 minutes, you are at the airport for a 9:30am flight.”

Drawing inspiration from history, he referenced the collective effort that built the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, proposing that Abians can replicate such a feat to fund light rail and road projects in the state.

“Speed of mobility will increase commercial transactions in the state and attract more investors. You can even go ahead and invite more investors. Many of them will come running down to Abia State,” he concluded.

Observers have since described the proposal as a powerful example of citizen-driven governance support, reflecting the renewed confidence Abians have in Governor Alex Otti’s transparent leadership and transformative vision for a New Abia.
