New Year Blessing for Aba North as Mayor’s Wife Celebrates First Baby of the Year at Umuogor Primary Health Centre
The New Year was ushered in with joy and thanksgiving in Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State following the birth of a baby girl at the Umuogor Ward Primary Health Centre, Umuogor Ward 12, Uratta.
The baby, named Testimony Obiefula, was delivered safely at exactly 7:34 a.m., marking a heartwarming beginning to the year for the local government and the Umuogor community.
To share in the joy of the moment, the Wife of the Executive Mayor of Aba North Local Government Area, Lady Nina Iheke, paid a visit to the health centre to congratulate both the mother and her newborn child. During the visit, Lady Iheke celebrated the safe delivery and described the occasion as a symbol of hope, life, and renewed blessings for Aba North in the New Year.
She conveyed warm congratulations on behalf of her husband, the Executive Mayor of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, noting that although the Mayor would have loved to be physically present to witness the joyful moment, his official engagements made it impossible. Nevertheless, she assured the family of the Mayor’s goodwill, regards, and best wishes to both mother and child.
Lady Iheke disclosed that she received the news of the delivery through the Aba North Health Authority Secretary, Mrs. Adieze Ihuoma, which prompted her immediate visit to the health facility.
In her remarks, she also expressed appreciation to the Wife of the Governor of Abia State, Her Excellency Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, for her prompt concern and support, noting that the Office of the Wife of the Governor had already provided baby kits for the mother and her newborn. She described the gesture as a reflection of compassionate leadership and care for mothers and children at the grassroots.
Speaking further, Lady Iheke, on behalf of the Mayor, presented a cash gift to the mother of the newborn and assured her that additional support and gifts would follow in due course.
Overwhelmed with joy, the mother of the baby, Mrs. Miriam Obiefula, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Wife of the Governor and the Wife of the Mayor for the love, humanity, and care shown to her. She said she never imagined she would be treated with such warmth and dignity, adding that the experience made her feel special and celebrated.
Mrs. Obiefula also appreciated Lady Nina Iheke for the visit, jokingly remarking that she now felt like a celebrity. She expressed delight over the baby kits received and prayed for continued blessings upon the families and leadership of Abia State and Aba North Local Government Area.
The visit and gestures marked a memorable start to the year, reinforcing the commitment of the Aba North leadership and the Abia State Government to maternal care, compassion, and community-ce
ntered governance.
