A motion seeking the expulsion of several prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been formally raised at the party’s Elective National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025. The motion cites alleged anti-party activities and what it describes as gross violations of the PDP Constitution 2017 (as amended).

The motion, which references Articles 10(6), 58(1)(b), (c), (f)(1), (j), (l), and 59(1)(g) of the party’s constitution, calls for disciplinary action against the following members:

1. H.E. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON

2. H.E. Ayo Fayose

3. Senator Samuel Anyanwu

4. Hon. Umar Bature

5. Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN

6. Mohammed Abdulrahman

7. Senator Mao Ohuabunwa

8. Hon. Austine Nwachukwu

9. Abraham Amah

10. George Turner

11. Chief Dan Orbih

According to the provisions cited, the National Convention remains the highest decision-making body of the PDP, with full authority over party structures, internal administration, and disciplinary actions. The motion further emphasizes Articles 33(2)(1), (2)(j), (n), and (r), which vest supreme powers in the convention to act on all matters affecting the party and its membership.

The resolution notes that political parties are voluntary associations protected under Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), and membership requires adherence to the party’s rules, values, and collective aspirations.

Those listed for disciplinary consideration are accused of engaging in activities deemed inconsistent with the party’s objectives, particularly supporting and canvassing votes for opposition parties during electoral contests, an action regarded as a serious constitutional breach.

The motion now awaits deliberation and possible ratification by appropriate party organs in line with established disciplinary procedures.

If upheld, the expulsion may mark one of the most significant internal purges in the party’s history, potentially reshaping its leadership structure and future political direction.

Further updates are expected as party stakeholders react and formal decisions unfold.
