Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, has been officially confirmed as the host city for the Playoffs and Final Four of the 2025 Nigeria Basketball Premier League (NBPL) season.

According to a communiqué released by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) and addressed to all participating clubs and relevant stakeholders, the decision follows the approval of a single hosting bid submitted by Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club.

The communiqué, jointly signed by the Men’s Premier League Chairman, Babatunde Ogunade, and the NBBF Secretary General, Amina O. Amanchi, stated that the League Management Committee received and approved only the bid from Rivers Hoopers, thereby entrusting Port Harcourt with hosting duties for the third consecutive year.

With this development, the Garden City is set to once again welcome basketball fans, players, and officials for what promises to be another thrilling climax to Nigeria’s top-flight basketball season.

The schedule released by the NBBF indicates that the Final Eight Playoffs will begin with the arrival of participating teams on October 26, 2025, while match action will tip off from October 27 to November 2, 2025. Teams will depart the city on November 3, 2025.

All matches will be played in a round-robin format, with the eight teams facing each other once. The top four teams from this stage will advance to the Final Four, which is slated to take place from November 20 to 24, 2025.

The games will hold at the Indoor Basketball Court, 59 Niger Street, Port Harcourt Township, which has been the venue of choice for the league’s decisive phases in recent years.

Rivers Hoopers, the reigning NBPL champions, are entering this year’s playoffs with sights set on a third consecutive championship title, having lifted the trophy on home soil in both 2023 and 2024.

Basketball enthusiasts across Nigeria are already anticipating another electrifying showcase in Port Harcourt, as the nation’s finest teams battle for supremacy in what has now become a traditional season-ending spectacle hosted by Rivers State.
