Speaker, Emeruwa Welcomes Visiting Students as Lawmakers Call for Urgent Intervention on Uratta Road Junction Along Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, Aba

The Abia State House of Assembly recorded a significant moment during its plenary session as the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Ihuoma Emeruwa, formally acknowledged the presence of visiting students and staff from two educational institutions who were at the Assembly Complex to observe the legislative proceedings.
The visiting groups included students and staff of Shakens Academy, Ihie Ndume in Ibeku Umuahia, led by Amarachi Uwasomba, as well as representatives of More Than Conquerors Academy, Aba, led by Mr. Obinna Ugorji. Their visit formed part of an educational tour designed to expose students to the workings of the legislative arm of government and deepen their understanding of democratic governance and parliamentary procedures.
Speaker Emeruwa warmly welcomed the visiting students and their teachers, commending their interest in civic education and encouraging them to take advantage of the opportunity to learn firsthand how laws are debated, formulated, and passed for the development of the state.
Meanwhile, legislative business during the plenary took a serious turn when Hon. Aaron Uzodike, the member representing Aba North State Constituency, raised a motion drawing the attention of the House to the deplorable condition of Uratta Road road/Junction along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
In presenting the motion, Hon. Uzodike highlighted the dangers posed by the deteriorating state of the road, noting that the situation has become a serious concern for motorists, residents, and road users who ply the axis daily. He stressed that the poor condition of the road has continued to endanger lives and properties, calling for immediate government intervention to carry out palliative works to prevent further accidents and losses.
Following deliberations on the motion, the House resolved to commit the matter to its Committee on Works. The committee was subsequently mandated to liaise with the Abia State Ministry of Works to ensure that urgent steps are taken to address the situation within the shortest possible time.
