“We Are Happy With What He Is Doing in the State for the People” – President Bola Tinubu Commends Gov. Otti, as He Commissions Newly Remodeled Michael Okpara Auditorium
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, on Friday commissioned the newly remodeled Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, praising Governor Alex Otti for his transformative initiatives across Abia State and his dedication to improving the lives of the people.
The iconic Michael Okpara Auditorium, located on Library Avenue, Umuahia, was recently retrofitted and upgraded with state-of-the-art facilities under Governor Otti’s administration, reflecting a renewed focus on infrastructure, civic pride, and socio-economic development.
Commissioning the project, President Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, described the quality of the work as transformational and commended Governor Otti for executing projects that impact the lives of Abians.
The President likened Governor Otti’s leadership style to that of the Late Dr. Michael Okpara, former Premier of the defunct Eastern Region, highlighting the Governor’s efforts in creating economic opportunities and advancing development across Abia State.
“Governor Otti, I commend you highly. Projects, whether they are Federal or State, the important thing is to touch the lives of the people of our States. So, we are very happy.
“Whether in APC, Labour Party, PDP or any other political leaning, we are happy with the Governor for what he is doing in the State for the people,” President Tinubu stated.
He further assured that the Southeast, including Abia State, will continue to be integrated into national affairs, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and political representation for the region.
Governor Alex Otti, speaking earlier, recalled the poor state in which the auditorium was found when he assumed office in 2023. Expressing pride in the renovation, he invited President Tinubu to witness the transformation firsthand.
“This is the Michael Okpara Auditorium, which was left in a dilapidated state. Towards the end of 2023, we started working on it. I’m glad that today, it is a standing edifice worthy of beholding, and by the time we make a step inside, Your Excellency, you will be happy with the quality of work done,” Governor Otti said.
The commissioning of the Michael Okpara Auditorium underscores Governor Otti’s commitment to restoring key landmarks and implementing projects that enhance the welfare and pride of Abians, further cementing his legacy of transformational leader
ship in the state.
