Federal Polytechnic Ilaro Emerges Overall Best Tertiary Institution in Nigeria in 2025, Ranked No. 1 Among 180 Institutions by Pole Global Marketing (PGM)
In a remarkable academic milestone, the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI), Ogun State, has been declared the overall best tertiary institution in Nigeria according to the 2025 ranking conducted by Pole Global Marketing (PGM). The ranking placed the institution above 180 other higher institutions across the country, including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
The announcement was made by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Mukail Akinde, on Monday during a media interaction held at the institution’s main campus in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Dr. Akinde explained that Pole Global Marketing (PGM) an IT consulting and international evaluation body renowned for its work on blackboard implementation and adoption in Africa, “finally settled for Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro as the ‘numero uno’ among others,” after an exhaustive evaluation process.
According to him, the assessment covered academic excellence, innovation, institutional management, and community impact, which served as the key performance indicators for the ranking.
“PGM, an IT Consulting organisation and international evaluation body, based on blackboard implementation and adoption in Africa, finally settled for Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro as the ‘numero uno’ among others, following the institution’s performance indicators in the areas of academic excellence, innovation, institutional management and community impact,”
the Rector stated.
He noted that the comprehensive evaluation conducted by PGM examined over 180 tertiary institutions in Nigeria before arriving at FPI’s top position, a feat that underscores the institution’s consistency in maintaining quality education, technological advancement, and community relevance.
Speaking further, Dr. Akinde attributed the institution’s achievement to the collective dedication and commitment of the management team, staff, and students who, according to him, “were collectively involved in all efforts that would make FPI excel in all its endeavours.”
The Rector gave special commendations to the Centre for Information and Communication Technology (CICT) of the Polytechnic for its pivotal role in promoting ICT-driven learning and digital innovation within the institution.
“It is not just a celebration, but a call to greater commitment, excellence in service delivery and sustained innovation in all areas of institutional growth. Thank the management team, staff, and students for tireless efforts,”
Akinde declared.
He further described the recognition as a “timely and uplifting honour”, coming as the current administration marks its third year in office. The Rector assured that the Polytechnic would continue to uphold the values of excellence, innovation, and integrity that earned it the enviable recognition as Nigeria’s best tertiary institution for 2025.
