#ICYMI: ABSU Begins Search for 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor as Governing Council Inaugurates Search Team
The process of appointing a new substantive Vice-Chancellor for Abia State University (ABSU) has officially commenced, following the inauguration of a Search Team by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Rt. Hon. Dr. Agwu U. Agwu.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the University’s leadership transition as preparations begin to appoint the institution’s 9th Substantive Vice-Chancellor.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Pro-Chancellor charged members of the Search Team with the responsibility of identifying the most qualified candidate capable of steering the University into a new era of academic excellence, innovation, and digital transformation. He emphasized the need for a transparent and merit-driven selection process that will produce a visionary leader to build on the institution’s achievements.
Rt. Hon. Dr. Agwu also acknowledged the outstanding contributions of the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, commending his leadership and dedication to the growth and development of the University. He noted that the outgoing Vice-Chancellor’s tenure has recorded remarkable progress in strengthening the institution’s academic standards and overall development.
The commencement of the search process signals the beginning of a new chapter for Abia State University, with expectations high that the next Vice-Chancellor will consolidate existing gains while positioning the institution for greater competitiveness in higher education, research, innovation, and digital adva
