Cosmos Maduka Alleges Former Plateau Governor Sought 100% Vehicle Invoice Mark-Up
Founder of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, has alleged that a former governor of Plateau State once approached his company for the supply of vehicles and subsequently sought a significant inflation of the invoices.
Maduka claimed that vehicles valued at about ₦40 million were allegedly expected to be invoiced at approximately ₦80 million, effectively doubling the stated cost of the vehicles.
The businessman raised questions over the alleged transaction while challenging the idea that such procurement practices should be regarded as normal in dealings between government officials and private businesses.
Maduka also questioned whether any serving senator or member of a State House of Assembly had ever approached his company to purchase vehicles under similar circumstances.
His comments have renewed attention on concerns surrounding public procurement, government vehicle contracts and alleged attempts to inflate the cost of goods and services procured with public funds.
The allegation, however, remains a claim attributed to Maduka and has not been independently established. The identity of the former Plateau State governor involved was not stated in the account, while any response from the former governor would be necessary to provide the other side of the matter.
The claims have nevertheless sparked fresh questions about transparency, accountability and the processes governing government procurement in Nigeria.
