ABIA LAWMAKER, KALU MBA NWOKE, COMMENDS GOVERNOR OTTI OVER STATE BURIAL FOR REV. UMA UKPAI, PRAISES APPROVAL OF ASAGA RING ROAD RECONSTRUCTION AHEAD OF HISTORIC FINAL RITES
A member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke, has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, for honouring one of his constituents, the Late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, with a befitting state burial.
Speaking during a personal explanation on the floor of the House, the lawmaker described the Governor’s gesture as a profound mark of respect for the late cleric’s immense spiritual contributions and enduring legacy within Abia State and beyond. He emphasized that the decision to accord the revered religious leader a state burial reflects the administration’s recognition of individuals who have made significant impacts on society.
Hon. Nwoke further lauded the Governor for granting the necessary approvals to the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA) for the reconstruction of the Asaga Ring Road, a critical infrastructure project within the constituency. He noted that the timely intervention played a vital role in easing access and movement, especially for the influx of mourners and dignitaries who traveled to Asaga Ohafia to pay their last respects to the late clergyman.
The lawmaker highlighted that without the reconstruction efforts, the condition of the road could have posed serious logistical challenges during the burial activities, potentially hindering smooth transportation and tarnishing the solemnity of the occasion.
He concluded by reiterating his constituency’s gratitude to Governor Otti, noting that the dual gesture of honouring the deceased with a state burial and facilitating infrastructural development demonstrates a leadership style anchored on compassion, responsiveness, and commitment to the welfare of the people.
