Abia State has recorded a landmark achievement on the national stage, emerging as the overall best-performing state at the recently concluded National Basic Education School Sports Games, clinching an impressive eight gold medals in athletics.
The remarkable feat was announced by the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing on the outcome of this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Highlighting the strides made in the education sector under the Otti-led administration, Prince Kanu described the victory as a testament to the government’s deliberate investment in revitalizing public education and promoting holistic development among students across the state.
According to him, the trophies won by the young athletes were formally presented to Governor Otti during the Executive Council meeting, drawing commendation from members of the council.
The Governor, visibly pleased with the performance of the students, pledged to formally host the victorious team in recognition of their outstanding accomplishment and to further encourage excellence among Abia youths.
