The Abia State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has officially announced the commencement of the second batch of the 2025 Teachers Recruitment Exercise, aimed at addressing the shortfall of qualified teachers across the state, particularly in rural and riverine areas.
According to a public notice signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and dated November 4, 2025, the recruitment portal will be open from Wednesday, November 6, 2025, to Tuesday, November 19, 2025.
The Ministry stated that the application process is free of charge and will be conducted strictly online through the official website: www.mobse-abiastategov.ng.
Applicants are to complete and submit their forms within the two-week window. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via SMS and/or email and subsequently invited for a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Only those who excel in the CBT will proceed to the oral interview stage.
To qualify, applicants must:
1. Be below 45 years of age as of December 31, 2025.
2. Possess NCE, Degree, Masters, or PhD in relevant disciplines.
3. Be Abians or non-Abians resident in Abia State.
4. Be willing to serve in any part of the state, including rural or riverine communities.
Persons with disabilities may also apply, provided they possess qualifications in Special Needs Education.
The Ministry further emphasized that applicants must carefully fill in their academic records and ensure that their highest qualification is uploaded. Names used during the application cannot be changed at any stage of the recruitment process.
In addition, individuals without teaching qualifications may apply; however, if successful, they must obtain the relevant teaching qualification within two years as a condition for confirmation of appointment.
The Ministry clarified that this recruitment exercise is part of Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the educational sector by deploying competent teachers to underserved areas, thereby ensuring that every child in Abia State has access to quality education.
The statement concluded by encouraging interested and qualified candidates to visit the official recruitment portal promptly and submit their applications before the deadline.
