The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the appointment of former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, as the Coalition Chairman to coordinate party affairs and spearhead reconciliation efforts in Kaduna State.

The strategic appointment marks a decisive step by the ADC leadership to restore internal harmony and strengthen the party’s structure following months of internal crisis that have plagued its Kaduna State chapter.

Senator Usman, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Peter Obi faction of the Labour Party, assumes the new role following her replacement of the embattled Julius Abure. Her appointment is seen as a unifying measure aimed at bridging divides and repositioning the ADC for relevance and collaboration ahead of future elections.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the ADC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Ja’afaru Sani, confirmed the development, emphasizing that the party’s current focus is on unity and reconciliation among opposition figures. He cautioned against any form of political interference, alleging that certain external forces were attempting to destabilize the ADC in the state.

Sani further disclosed that the coalition leadership had resolved to discipline expelled members who instituted a court action against a national leader of the party, an act he described as counterproductive and detrimental to the ADC’s growth.

According to him, the ADC’s renewed reconciliation drive, under the coordination of Senator Usman, represents a fresh chapter in rebuilding confidence, cohesion, and credibility among members, particularly at a time when Nigeria’s opposition politics is seeking direction and collaboration.

Observers believe that with Senator Usman’s political pedigree and experience in both governance and party administration, the ADC stands a better chance at reclaiming its influence in Kaduna State and the North-West political landscape at large.
