Chioma Abia Political Structure Convenes Strategic Abia South Zonal Executive and Leaders’ Meeting in Aba, Reaffirms Loyalty to Governor Alex Otti and Mobilises for Labour Party Congress
The Chioma Abia Political Structure on Monday, March 2, 2026, convened a crucial Abia South Zonal Executive and Leaders’ Meeting aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and repositioning members ahead of the forthcoming Labour Party congress.
The strategic gathering, held at Abia Hotels along the Aba–Owerri Road in Aba, brought together key stakeholders including Abia South Zonal Executives, Leaders, Local Government and Market Coordinators, Women Leaders, Secretariat officials, and Youth Leaders from across the zone.
In his opening remarks, the Coordinator for Abia South Zone, Chief Chikodi Alozie, warmly welcomed attendees and clarified that the meeting was strictly by invitation. He disclosed that a broader, enlarged meeting would soon be convened to accommodate all members of the Chioma Abia Political Structure.
Chief Alozie stressed that with the Labour Party congress set to commence soon, this was not a time for complacency but for active participation and renewed political engagement. He urged members to remain proactive in marking out their political spaces and consolidating their grassroots structures.
According to him, the primary objective of the meeting was to reorganize and reposition the structure to remain vibrant and effective in the evolving political landscape.
In his address, the State Coordinator of the structure, Hon. Kingsley Nwachukwu, commended members for honouring the invitation and acknowledged the dedication of leaders and stakeholders who have consistently supported the structure financially and organisationally.
He applauded chapter leaders who have continued to sponsor activities and convene meetings within their respective local government areas, describing their commitment as instrumental to the growth of the structure.
Hon. Nwachukwu further revealed that the state leadership of the Chioma Abia Political Structure would soon address executives and members statewide to strategize effectively for the forthcoming elections. He urged members to remain steadfast in upholding the vision and objectives of the structure while reaffirming their unwavering support for the leadership of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.
Also speaking, the Leader of the structure, Hon. Okeoma Nwaogbe, JP, expressed appreciation to members for their continued loyalty and participation. He cautioned against involvement in activities capable of undermining the structure and urged aggrieved members to set aside past grievances in the interest of unity and collective progress.
He encouraged members to return to their respective wards, strengthen relationships with party executives, and focus on attracting new members into the structure rather than merely competing for already existing supporters.
Hon. Nwaogbe firmly dispelled rumours suggesting that Governor Otti was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He reiterated that the governor remains a committed member and leader of the Labour Party and would continue to run under its platform. He advised members to disregard unfounded speculations and concentrate on strengthening the structure.
He also reminded attendees that the Chioma Abia Political Structure belongs to all members and urged them to sustain regular meetings and collective engagement.
In their separate remarks, the Abia South Zonal Secretary, Mr. Cyril Ozor, thanked members for their dedication and urged leaders to demonstrate exemplary conduct in their various capacities.
Similarly, the Coordinator for Obingwa, Elder Ezenwa Kalu, announced that the Obingwa Chapter would officially unveil its ultra-modern office later in March. He invited members across the zone to attend the event and called for sustained unity within the structure.
The meeting ended on a note of renewed solidarity, strategic focus, and commitment to grassroots mobilization as the Chioma Abia Political Structure intensifies preparations ahead of key politica
l activities in the state.
