Federal High Court Orders Nnamdi Kanu to Open Defence as No-Case Submission is Dismissed in Abuja Terrorism Trial

The legal battle involving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, took a decisive turn on Friday as the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed his no-case submission.

In a ruling delivered by Justice James Omotosho, the court held that the federal government had successfully established a prima facie case against Kanu. This decision means that Kanu must proceed to open his defence in the terrorism charges filed against him by the government.

The judge emphasized that allowing Kanu the opportunity to respond to the allegations was in his best interest, noting that the issues raised required his defence rather than dismissal at this stage.

With this development, the case enters a new phase, where the IPOB leader will be expected to present his side before the court in the coming proceedings.
