Honesty on the Wheels as Aba Tricycle Operator Returns Huge Sum of Money to Passenger, Earning Praise for Integrity and Reflecting Governor Otti’s Vision for a New Abia

A remarkable act of honesty and integrity was recorded in Aba, Abia State, on Friday, October 17, 2025, when a tricycle operator under the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, returned a large sum of money forgotten by a passenger in his tricycle.

The incident, which took place within the bustling Aba-Owerri Road corridor, has drawn public commendation and has been described as another testament to the moral reawakening and value restoration being championed by the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.

According to reports from the ASTOPU Zonal Office along Azikiwe Road, the tricycle operator, identified as Mr. Nnamdi Ezekiel, conveyed a woman, later identified as Madam Florence from Bata Bus Stop to a hospital within the city. After dropping her off, Mr. Ezekiel discovered a waterproof nylon bag left on the back seat of his tricycle. Upon inspection, he realized it contained a huge amount of money, apparently belonging to the passenger.

Though he had earlier informed the woman that he would not be available to pick her up for her return trip, Mr. Ezekiel decided the next morning to personally return the money. His effort paid off when he met Madam Florence at Bata Bus Stop, where she had been asking after him in distress. He handed over the money intact, to her great relief and astonishment.

In her appreciation, Madam Florence, a native of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area near the Ukwa East boundary, expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Ezekiel for his honesty, noting that not a single naira was missing from the recovered sum. She said she was even more touched by the glowing testimonies from other tricycle operators at the park, who described Mr. Ezekiel as a man of integrity and sincerity.

She further commended the leadership of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, under Hon. Victor Azubuike, for instilling discipline and ethical values among its members, saying that the conduct of operators like Mr. Ezekiel mirrors the visionary leadership of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, whose administration has continued to promote good governance, accountability, and moral rebirth in Abia State.
