OUTRAGE AT FUTO AS LECTURER DESTROYS STUDENT’S ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT DURING PRESENTATION, VIRAL VIDEO SPARKS NATIONWIDE CONDEMNATION

Videos showing a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), demolishing an architecture student’s project have ignited widespread outrage across Nigeria’s social media space.

According to multiple reports, the lecturer alleged to be from the Department of Architecture accused the student of being incapable of producing such an outstanding design. During the project defense, he reportedly destroyed the student’s work in full view of other students and colleagues.

The incident, captured in several video clips, was first shared on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter) on October 27, 2025. The footage shows the lecturer aggressively pulling apart the architectural model while the student and others watched in shock.

The viral video has triggered a wave of condemnation from Nigerians who described the lecturer’s behavior as abusive, unprofessional, and a clear display of academic intimidation. Many commenters denounced the act as a gross misuse of authority and a heartbreaking humiliation for the student whose project appeared to have taken weeks of effort and creativity.
