The famed Nigerian clergyman and founder of The Mountain of Holy Spirit Church in Onitsha, Anambra State, Prophet Chukwuemeka Cyril Odumeje, has taken the internet by storm once again, this time for transforming his church auditorium into a scene reminiscent of the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s Afrika Shrine.
In a trending video circulating online, the pastor, popularly called Odumeje, electrified his congregation with a spirited performance of Fela’s iconic Afrobeat track “Trouble Sleep Yanga Wake Am,” popularly known as “Palava.”
His rendition didn’t only mimic the style of the late music icon but also reflected the same boldness for which Fela was known: confronting bad governance.
During the unusual service session, Odumeje narrated how Fela’s music became a weapon against corruption and oppressive leadership.
