Nigerian socialite and music promoter, Samson Erinfolami Balogun, popularly known as Sam Larry, has spoken publicly for the first time after surviving a serious road accident along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos State.
The accident, which occurred over the weekend, reportedly involved the vehicle conveying Sam Larry and his bouncer colliding with a trailer. Speaking from his hospital bed during a live video, the music promoter reassured supporters that his condition is improving and disclosed that doctors expect to discharge him soon.
However, he revealed that the accident has left him unable to walk for now, meaning he will have to rely on a wheelchair during his recovery.
Addressing the widespread reactions and speculations surrounding the accident, Sam Larry expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal while maintaining his innocence against accusations that have continued to trail him.
“I’m doing well. I’m expected to be discharged from the hospital soon. The only issue I’m facing right now is that I can’t walk, so I’ll he using a wheelchair, and God knows till when. But, I’m grateful to be alive. I’ve seen a lot of negative speculation surrounding this accident. The God I serve knows the truth; I am innocent.”
The accident marks yet another frightening experience for the socialite, who also survived a separate car crash in 2024. Following that incident, he thanked God for preserving his life and expressed confidence that he would make a full recovery.
Despite surviving both accidents, public reactions have remained deeply divided, largely because of the controversy that has surrounded Sam Larry since the death of late singer Mohbad.
Public outrage intensified after a video surfaced online showing Sam Larry confronting and assaulting the late singer before his death. The footage triggered widespread condemnation and also affected the public image of Naira Marley and his record label.
The controversy eventually led to the arrest of both Naira Marley and Sam Larry, who spent more than five weeks in police custody before regaining their freedom on November 17 after meeting their bail conditions. Since their release, both men have participated in several charitable activities in what many observers viewed as efforts to rebuild their public image.
The pair also returned to public discussion after a video emerged showing an Imam leading prayers and asking them to respond “Amen” for the killers of Mohbad. The cleric later explained that Naira Marley and Sam Larry had insisted they were innocent and personally requested prayers for those truly responsible for the singer’s death.
Sam Larry also faced another embarrassing public incident in 2024 when he visited a nightclub and was confronted by a guest who accused him over Mohbad’s death. The confrontation quickly escalated, with videos circulating online showing the socialite visibly angry as others restrained him.
As Sam Larry continues his recovery from the latest crash, his health update has once again placed him at the centre of public attention, drawing both messages of sympathy and renewed debate over the controversies that have continue
d to surround his name.
