Abia State Govt. Completes Jaja Wachuku Road in Isiala Ngwa North, as 25 Contract Projects Advance Across the State
The Abia State Government has recorded another milestone in its ongoing road infrastructure development programme, with the completion of the 1.5-kilometre Jaja Wachuku Road in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed this on Monday, September 14, 2026, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
According to the Commissioner, the Jaja Wachuku Road is one of the 26 contract road projects currently being executed across the state, bringing the number of recently completed contract roads to one under the latest review.
Prince Kanu explained that the remaining 25 contract road projects were at different stages of construction, reflecting varying levels of progress across the different project sites.
He noted that the pace of work on some of the ongoing projects had been affected by prevailing weather conditions, particularly rainfall, which can significantly hinder major construction and road engineering activities.
The Commissioner, however, assured that construction activities would gain further momentum as weather conditions improve, paving the way for the completion and delivery of more road projects to communities across Abia.
The completion of the Jaja Wachuku Road adds to the Otti administration’s broader infrastructure drive, which places accessible, durable and strategically important road networks at the centre of its development agenda.
The government’s sustained investment in road infrastructure is aimed at improving connectivity between communities, easing transportation, supporting commerce and strengthening economic activities across the state.
With the remaining projects progressing at various stages, the administration is expected to sustain the delivery of additional road infrastructure as construction activities intensify in the
coming period.
