ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT REOPENS RECRUITMENT PORTAL FOR HEALTH WORKERS AS 500 NURSES UNDERGO DOCUMENTATION

In a renewed effort to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure quality service delivery across the state, the Abia State Government has officially reopened its recruitment portal for the engagement of more health workers.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made this known on Monday during a press briefing at the Government House, Umuahia, while addressing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

According to Prince Kanu, the reopened recruitment exercise offers vacancies for various categories of health professionals, including ophthalmologists, medical officers, dental officers, as well as both part-time and full-time consultants. He emphasized that the move underscores the present administration’s commitment to revitalizing the state’s health sector and ensuring that qualified professionals are recruited through a transparent and merit-driven process.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Ogbonnaya Uche, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving healthcare delivery. He revealed that about 500 nurses are currently undergoing documentation, having been successfully recruited through the open and transparent process introduced by the Governor Alex Otti-led administration.

Prof. Uche further noted that the ongoing recruitment drive forms part of the government’s comprehensive health reform agenda aimed at addressing manpower shortages, boosting efficiency, and enhancing access to quality healthcare services across the state.
