ASTOPU Wins Public Praise as Passengers Recover Lost Belongings in Aba
The integrity and efficiency of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, have once again earned public commendation following the successful recovery of lost belongings belonging to two passengers in separate incidents in Aba.
One of the beneficiaries, Apostle Dr. Abednego, who is based in Abuja, recounted how he boarded a tricycle from the hotel where he was lodged in Aba to a motor park in the city, only to realize later that he had forgotten his bag inside the tricycle.
According to him, after he alerted his sister about the missing bag, efforts were immediately made to locate the tricycle. His relatives waited for several hours at the Osisioma Park from the morning of his arrival while searching for the rider.
He explained that a tricycle operator they met during the search advised them to visit the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU) Aba Zonal Office located at Azikiwe Road, Aba, assuring them that the union would help recover the missing bag regardless of the circumstances.
To their surprise, the missing bag was later brought to the ASTOPU office and successfully handed over to its rightful owner.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Apostle Dr. Abednego applauded the leadership of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, Aba Zone, under Comrade Victor Azubuike, for promoting honesty and accountability among tricycle operators.
He also commended the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for the reforms introduced in the transport sector, noting that the transformation within the tricycle operators’ union reflects the administration’s commitment to discipline and service delivery. He described the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union as the best in Nigeria.
In a related development, another passenger, Mrs. Martina Efiong Umo from Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, also shared her experience after recovering her belongings that were mistakenly left inside a tricycle.
She explained that she boarded a tricycle from Jubilee Road to Ariaria International Market in Aba, where she inadvertently left her belongings inside the vehicle.
Following the incident, she was immediately directed to the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union office at Azikiwe Road, Aba, where efforts were made to trace the tricycle and recover her belongings.
Mrs. Umo expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of ASTOPU, led by Comrade Victor Azubuike, for their prompt response, honesty, and dedication to protecting the property of passengers.
The two separate incidents have further strengthened public confidence in the operations of ASTOPU, with many commuters describing the union’s commitment to integrity and accountability as a model worthy of emulation across Nigeri
