Gunmen Abduct Local Government Secretary and Farm Owner, Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi in Akure Who Claimed That Tinubu Has Ended Insecurity In Nigeria, Demand ₦100 million Ransom For His Release
Armed gunmen have abducted the Secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Joseph Kayode Aladesuyi, in a violent attack on his farm in Kajola settlement within the Ilu-Abo community of Akure North Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the attackers stormed the farm and targeted Aladesuyi, a native of Irun Akoko who also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of JOTINA Farms.
According to sources familiar with the development, the farm is located roughly five kilometres from Akure Airport.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the gunmen ambushed Aladesuyi on the farm alongside his granddaughter and two other individuals. The assailants reportedly fired several gunshots into the air, creating confusion and fear in the area before forcefully marching their victims toward a nearby forest.
During the course of the attack, the kidnappers reportedly released the young girl but proceeded into the bush with Aladesuyi, who appeared to be their primary target.
The sound of heavy gunfire triggered widespread panic across nearby communities. Residents fled for safety as the attack unfolded, while many parents rushed to nearby schools to quickly retrieve their children amid fears that the violence could escalate.
The incident has heightened tension among residents of the area, many of whom expressed concern over the growing insecurity in rural communities surrounding Akure.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jimoh Abayomi, disclosed that security operatives had been deployed to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
He stated that the police command had commenced operations aimed at rescuing the abducted victim and tracking down those responsible for the attack. Authorities also assured residents that further updates would be provided as the investigation and rescue efforts progress.
