Two Arab-Israeli lawmakers were forcibly removed from the Knesset on Monday after disrupting US President Donald Trump’s speech by holding up pro-Palestinian signs.

Hadash-Ta’al chairman Ayman Odeh was the first to be ejected after unfolding a sign urging Trump to “recognize Palestine.”

Odeh, a long-time advocate for Palestinian statehood, shouted as security officers moved in to escort him out of the plenary hall.

Moments later, party MK Ofer Cassif also attempted to raise a similar sign and was quickly removed by ushers.

The brief protest drew a sharp response from the chamber’s security and an amused remark from the visiting US president.

As order was restored, Trump quipped, “That was very efficient,” before resuming his speech to the Israeli parliament.

Israel’s government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has consistently rejected international calls to recognize a Palestinian state, maintaining that such recognition must come only through direct negotiations.
