Aba North LG Chairman, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, Receives NYSC Batch C Corps Members, Urges Commitment to Hard Work and Excellence
The Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, warmly received the NYSC Batch C corps members at the Aba North Local Government Council headquarters in Eziama-Aba. The delegation was led by the Local Government Inspector, Mr. Okechukwu Vincent.
Addressing the corps members in his office, Hon. Iheke highlighted the progress the State has made over the past two years.
He said, “If you’ve been here before you must have noticed significant changes. It is an Exemplary of what two years can do. Imagine another two years.
“We’ve been behind for years, but we’re rapidly catching up. Our speed is unimaginable. We know what we’re here to do.
“The so called elements in the past have delayed us for so long. Now we know where we lost it and we’re picking it up from there.
“Have you seen what we’re doing in the Abia State University (ABSU)? We know where we lost it, but the Glory of the state is coming back gradually. That’s why I said we’re on speed and breaking bounds under Governor Alex Otti.
“So whatever you’re coming to do in Abia you have to gear-up. If you’re not ready to work, you’ll have to find another place because here in Abia we’re working, and if you’re ready to work here that’s how you can learn from us.”
In a bid to emphasize the importance of diligence and personal responsibility, the Chairman narrated a story of his nephew who spent nine years in the university without obtaining a certificate, reflecting on the regrets that come from wasted time.
He stressed, “So when you come to a working environment, find out what it takes. Everything is education for now. The best unknown character of every entrepreneur is being workaholic.”
Hon. Iheke extended a warm welcome to the corps members and reassured them that his office remains open to support and guide them during their service year.
In response, one of the corps members expressed appreciation for the Chairman’s warm reception and promised that the corps members would maintain good conduct and behaviour throughout their stay.
This engagement underscores the Aba North Local Government’s commitment to fostering a culture of hard work, discipline, and excellence, reflecting the broader developmental vision under the leadership of G
overnor Alex Otti.
