BREAKING NEWS: Newly Elected AGN President, Abubakar Yakubu, Involved in Fatal Auto Crash in Surulere, Lagos
A tragic twist has hit the Nigerian entertainment industry as Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has reportedly been involved in a fatal accident in Surulere, Lagos.
Yakubu, who only recently clinched the AGN presidency in a tense poll with a slim victory of 116 votes over Rita Daniels’ 113 with three votes voided, is now facing a serious legal and emotional battle following the crash.
Preliminary reports indicate that the crash resulted in the death of one person, sparking immediate police action. Eyewitnesses at the scene alerted the authorities, leading to Yakubu’s arrest moments after the incident.
The newly elected guild leader has been detained at the Barracks Police Station in the Surulere axis, where investigators are currently interrogating him to determine what led to the accident. The development has raised widespread concerns within the entertainment community, just days after the highly contested election.
As at press time, authorities have not issued a formal statement explaining the cause of the crash, whether Yakubu was at fault, or if other factors were involved. Officials say full details will be disclosed after ongoing investigations are concluded.
The Nigerian movie industry, already shaken by several recent tragedies, is anxiously awaiting clarity on the case, as prayers and reactions continue to flood social media from industry stakeholders and fans across the country.
